I am willing to consider books in almost any speculative fiction genre: science fiction, fantasy, and horror all appeal to me. However, I prefer things that are between genres rather than smack-dab in the middle of them, so something that\'s hard to categorize is more likely to win me over than a standard-issue quest fantasy or space opera. Past experience indicates that I\'m not likely to fall for anything with heaps of romantic or erotic content.

I tend to prefer prose that\'s more “literary” than “pop,” and always appreciate veins of weirdness, scariness, or dark humor. I’m interested in authors who experiment with the form of their books, so long as they don’t sacrifice story to do it. I frequently read comic books or plays in my spare time, and see no reason why Tor wouldn’t be interested in publishing in those media if the work was otherwise appropriate for us.

Finally, I\'m very interested in publishing authors with varied ethnic, social, and cultural backgrounds; LGBT and female authors; and works of feminist, queer, or sociopolitical interest.

That said, I know how few books fit all of these criteria at once, so I\'m happy to take a look at any book that does a good job with any of them.

Starting in 2009, I would strongly prefer electronic submissions. Regardless of what format you send in, you should always query first.
